Our trip to Australia Zoo was, as always fantastic. It was uncomfortably hot but Jacob had a great time at his farmyard visit and DH loved his wombat encounter.

Happy 2nd Birthday Jacob

Little Jacob turned 2 on Sunday. He had a lovely afternoon with a few friends and some relatives. The storm hit Toowoomba that afternoon but didn't spoil it for him; there was enough time to play on trampoline and in the sandpit.
He was a little worn out that night though.
Next weekend-weather permitting he has another celebration, this time at the beach and zoo.
I returned to Brisbane next morning-power had been out since the storm hit there, and remained off for more than 24 hours. We were fortunate to have a lead running from our neighbour's home, as he has a small generator. That helped keep the fridge going and we have always had emergency gas equipment for lights and cooking.
The explosion of the insulators on the power pole was loud and made an incredible mess.
While we didnt have any tree damage we did have a loss of some electrical equipment but others around us were not so lucky and will be feeling the effects for some time to come.I think most people in Brisbane and surrounds were affected in some way by this one.If nothing else it can help make people aware of the need to keep gutters cleared and trim overhanging trees.
Meantime it is back to the everday grind.
A very few Mini soaker keyrings are being given with instock knits until stock(of keyrings) runs out.
The intro to cloth packs will be up and running before the month is over, on the www.ceejaynappies.com.au site

Crikey Set for Steve Irwin Day

15th November is again Steve Irwin Day. Once again I have one special Crikey Set, proceeds to one of Steve's Conservation charities. This one is a bluey green soaker in organic wool and merino, quite thick although wool was sold as 8 ply- it is nearer Aran (10 ply), and there is the option to have Crikey embroidered on the back- or alternatively I will knit a regular crikey soaker (beige with green lettering). It comes with a teeny mini soaker keyring, and these will be given with all instock soakers sold between now and Christmas. The nappy is a large size night/day fitted, quilters cotton outer with croc design, bamboo velour inner and concealed full layer of lightweight bamboo and one of double napped flannel, plus soaker of BKT. Booster is snap in bamboo which can be folded to give absorbency where most needed. This set is normally over $60 but is a special price for one day only on the Gossamer Dreams store November listing on 15th.
I am spending the weekend with my grandons, Jacob turns 2 on Sunday.
I hope to start listing the budget nappies after all the celebrations are completed- we are also taking off to the beach and Australia Zoo in a few days time.

Budget Nappy site opening

Sometime this month I will be relaunching the Ceejay Nappy site where I will be offering our budget nappy options
The first pack will be aimed at people who are interested in trying cloth but know very little about it. This would be an ideal package to give as a gift to someone having a new baby. Nappy is a revamped ceejay, but is a sized version and will come in a variety of basic fabrics (including bamboo)and wool.
I am running a little late with these as I have had such a frantically busy couple of months.
More info will be available very soon.

October

I saw a comment about KKs being very hard to get as they usually were never in stock and how there are plenty sitting on the site at the moment.
I need to correct that.
KKs have never been hard to get. I have always clearly stated that people could get one at any time, just email and I would make it.For the first three quarters of the year I sold only by orders and made them up quite quickly. They were/are probably the easiest of the Aussie wahm made nappies to get hold of.
However while I was away supposedly on holidays I made up a huge batch, the caravan annexe was chockers; my intention being to have enough stock to last till the end of the year so I could have a break from sewing to catch up on other things.
They were just as easy to get all year as they are at the moment.
Supplies now are dwindling fast and there are not plenty left in stock ; medium longs are almost sold out and large are also getting very low; most of those pictured have only one each, just a couple have more than one of the colour.
I had a problem with the new booster; I have emailed a lot of people but if you have had trouble with your possums tail booster please email me possumpouches@optusnet.com.au so I can help rectify the problem.
If stock runs out before Christmas I am not sure if I will have time to make more- I will play that by ear; however a couple of other things are in the pipeline once I catch up on the mass of paperwork which continues to smother me.

Must watch TV

On Tuesday night please tune into ABC1 (check local guide for correct time in your state)
Hugh Jackman narrates this documentary about Indonesia's "Burning Season".

Every year, deliberately lit fires rage across Indonesia. They destroy pristine rainforest, endanger orangutans and contribute to climate change. A young carbon trading entrepreneur goes in search of a solution.

"Every year, there is one outstanding documentary that you cannot miss, that people will talk about because of its significance to the planet's future. This coming year, The Burning Season is that documentary." - Hugh Jackman
